Tadiyandamol- The Pride Of Coorg

Legend has it “It is never the destination; it is always the journey that we live for” and Tadiyandamol is just the place to prove this quote wrong. It is one of the most outlived places around the Coorg district and the trek is simply mesmerizing. The breath-taking views, lush green forest and the amazing locals is what we trekkers need to experience in every trip. The erstwhile rulers of the Kodagu region have drawn serious inspiration from the mighty mountain. Legacy of the tadiyandalmol the Nalknad palace which is almost about 150 years old stands tall. Being the 3rd highest peak in Karnataka and the highest peak in the Kodagu district, Tadiyandamol is at 1748 meters tall.

 The location isn’t highly accessible by either road or rail, but there are trains from major metropolitan cities around India to get you to the nearest railway station of Tadiyandamol.



Tadiyandamol will guarantee to offer breathtaking views and it will be worthy, despite the hardships a trekker will face. The base camp is from Kakkabe, the starting point, the trail is all but mud, concrete and the forest trails make it exciting all along. The real fun begins when the trial hits the dense forest section with slopes you could never imagine reaching. Glimpses of coffee, pepper and cotton plantations make the walk to the peak blissful.

Start from the base camp of Kakkabe. The journey is 5 kms approximately to the base camp by bus from the nearest train station. Alternatively, you can reach the base camp/forest check post via local Jeep. There are a plenty of them available and it costs approximately 100/- per head.

Although, is advisable to walk it up, as there are water streams on this path and who says a trek starts from the base camp? It starts the moment we leave our homes?

The trek distance is approximately 7+7 kms which can easily be covered within a day’s time. Forest permission is a must to scale this stretch which costs around 50 Rs/- per person. Camping in and around the peak is strictly prohibited since 2015, make sure to keep that extra baggage of tents at home. One cannot lose track of the trail as there are ample signs to guide us throughout the journey.

  • It’s advisable to hire a local guide who can provide valuable insights about the trail and ensure your safety.
  • Respect nature and practice responsible tourism by leaving no trace of your visit, avoiding littering, and preserving the environment.
  • Plastics are banned completely which is a good initiative from the forest department.
  • Wear light clothing during the trail.
